Summer skin care tips — Deluxe Shea Butter

5 steps to better summer skin care

Summer skin care tips to save your skin this season.

The Australian summer is tough on skin, so we all have to work a bit harder on our summer skin care routines. With plenty of hot weather still to come, here are some simple tips to keep your skin looking and feeling good all through summer.

Don’t just water the garden.

Deluxe Shea Butter — 5 steps to better summer skin scare - drinking water

Drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your skin, especially in summer. So make sure you stay hydrated with at least eight glasses of water a day, and your skin will shine. If you do get sunburnt, keeping hydrated is one of the most effective ways to help your skin recover.

Throw some shade on yourself.

Australia and New Zealand have the highest skin cancer rates in the world per capita. On top of that, nothing dries the skin or ages it faster than the sun. So if you are outside during the day, make sure you wear sun protective clothing, a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses. And don’t forget sunscreen of course.

Screen savers.

Speaking of sunscreen, dermatologists recommend a broad spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or more. Apply it to all exposed skin, not forgetting hands, feet, ears and lips. You’ll need to apply sunscreen before going outside, then every couple of hours that you’re in the sun. It’s a good idea to set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself.

Don’t shower for an hour.

A lot of people have two showers or more on hot days. Over-showering, or showering in really hot water, can dry your skin and lead to inflammation and even eczema. So keep your showers to a few minutes each, and don’t sit in a hot tub for longer than necessary.

Keep skin moisturised, no sweat.

Sweating is actually good for your skin. It moisturises and cools, while also helping to kill harmful bacteria on your skin’s surface. However, a good moisturiser, like Shea Butter, is an essential part of your summer skin care routine. A moisturiser helps to keep the outer layer of skin – the stratum corneum – healthy, so it can do its job of protecting the body from harmful pollutants and chemicals.

Deluxe Shea Butter is your one step summer skin care solution. As well as keeping your skin moisturised and healthy, Deluxe Shea Butter helps sunburnt skin to recover faster, while also reducing itchiness and eczema. Order your Deluxe Shea Butter here!
