What’s your name? Jamilah Sumani
How old are you and where are you from? I am 18 years old and from the Gumo community. I am single and have no child.
Are you going to school? I am currently in Junior High School. I will like to be a footballer in the future.
What do you like about working with Shea? My favourite part in the making process is the roasting aspect because it’s easier than the kneading and boiling.
What is your favourite food? I like rice and beans. I am a very simple and playful girl.
What was your life like growing up? I grew up with my Mum and my Dad. Therefore, I haven’t really had much difficulty in life. My parents have been taking care of me and my siblings up to this date. My mother Sanatu Sumani, has been producing shea butter for over 20yrs now. I do support her whenever I am not going to school. I am one of six siblings who are all benefiting from my Mother’s Shea butter business.
What about the future? My greatest wish is to expand my Mum’s Shea butter business and make more money to support my family.
Keep up the great work Jamilah, and one day we hope to see you playing for Ghana!
